I'm a Pedagogophile.....

That doesn't say what you think it does. You are dirty. Buy a dictionary.

Today I taught a class. All by myself. I stood up there and said "You will listen to every damn word i say and you will remember it and enjoy retaining it and tell you friends how great of a lecture this was".

Actually I just thought that really loud inside my head.

The lecture went pretty well. I explained how DNA is used in forensics. And at the end those that wanted to donated DNA and i'm going to genotype them at one locus and bring the gel next class. For the most part the girls just drooled over me while the guys sat there and were jealous of how I know so much and look so good. It's hard to be. Well, actually, it's just hard to watch others sit there and wish so hard that they were me.

Look out Ladies....

The following a conversation I had with my five year old son after watching him walk up to group of older girls without hesitation and play with them at burger king.

Me: "Do you like boys better or girls better?"
Him: "Girls."

Me: "Why?"
Him: "Because I played with them on the playground."

Me: "No I meant over all. In the whole world, do you like girls better or boys?"

Him: "Girls."

Me: "Why?"

Him: "Because they love me."

DID YOU HEAR THAT? "Because they love me." That may be the single best response he could have given. He is five and already knows that his blonde hair, blue eyes, and dimples will get him anything he wants. He could probably have any piece of ass in grades K through 4 without even trying. He is like an estrogen homing missile. He just locks on and blows them up, they don't stand a chance.

I wonder where he gets it from?

P.S. Have you met my friend alcohol? He helps bars make lots of big money, and white people dance.

A little disapointed....

I saw Serenity last night. I liked firefly. didn't love it. I am not one of the die hards that thinks it was one of the greatest shows ever concieved and that people should be burned at the stake for cancelling it; but it had it's moments. So i went to see the movie.

What bothered me right off the bat was the change in the back story. Especially after all the hype i'd heard up to last night was about how the creator wanted to keep the movie so true to the series. Then they were in obvious conflict with two of the actors. Either because of money or the two not agreeing with the script they both ended up getting paid (a lot probably) to do one or two days of filming each at one location just long enough to kill their characters off. Weak.

Besides that, the over all plot was pretty good. I'm not sure I agree with how the girl got her mind fixed instantly by watching a video, but i'll let that slide.

Overall it is a lot like highschool girl. You know how it is supposed to go. She knows how it is supposed to go. But in the end, the final product ends up being quite a bit underwhelming and feels forced. Not quite what all your buddies had hyped it as.

I would have preferred if Book went with Mal to the backup and met the assassin, at which time you find out that Book's real job was as the trainer for these clandestine opperatives and then he and his protege have a grueling fight in which Book ends up being killed and Mal has to avenge his death. Plus there should have been a larger part for the dinosaurs.

Chemically man made....

I awoke this morning with a start. Something was afoul....erie....dangerous. Then I heard it....."doo be doo be do". And i realized that was actually a fowl.

The damn penguins. "How did you guys get here?" I asked. "Houston is now the center of the arctic." they replied in unison as if sharing a collective conciousness. I walked out side and, sure enough, it was like 68 degrees. For those of you who don't know, that is almost cold enough to cripple the entire city of Houston.

But it is good for me. A great day outside and getting closer to my birthday. Nice and breezy, and good day for sandals. It is currently like 78. Brisk but not too cold. When the highs drop to 68, then i will be bundled in a parka fighting the penguins out of my ice fishing hole.

Does anyone know how to say "I'd like to buy a polar bear trap." in Eskimo?

It's that time of year again

Fantasy Basketball Time!

I prefer to play salary cap games, especially since you usually have to pay for draft leagues. Sportingnews is my site of choice since i was playing their fantasy leagues back when they were an independent company called Sandboxgames.com.

My six man roster for this year:

Gaurds - Andre Miller, and Josh Smith
Forwards - Emeka Okafor and Stromile Swift
Center - Yao Ming
6th man - Ron Artest

The only player i'm not so thrilled about Miller. But his stats are fairly strong, so maybe if denver is good he will pan out. Seems to fit the winning formula. I have one player on a bad team who should put up good numbers (Smith). Okafor and Ming were decent last year and are both poised to step up to the 20-10 club this year. Swift I got on the cheap and am hoping he will put up big enough numbers to inflate his value so that maybe i could package him and either miller or artest to get a high dollar guy with triple double capability. I am also lacking a multi position guy (g/f or f/c) who would give me more flexibility as far as player movement goes.

NBATV is starting to be the worst thing that has ever happened to me. If I don't get out of the house by 7 I end up laying around and convincing myself that it is ok so lay around till 10 and then watch whatever training camp they are showcasing that day and then rolling into work around noon. I am more productive late at night anyways, so this may end up being a legitimate shift until the regular season starts.
